Gris Gris

Gris Gris is a concept development project for a metroidvania indie game with platformer and puzzle elements driving the game play. The player follows Enitan, a Voodoo doll driven by mysterious forces, who must find and collect items in order to make gris-gris charms and talismans tailored to solve problems, help the Loa (Voodoo gods), and expel the corrupted forces that have taken control of the West Africa region.

Game components are drawn from real places and cultures within West Africa where possible. This includes colour symbolism used in character design, User Interface symbols deriving from the Asante people of Ghana's "Adrinka" symbols, and key game areas being inspired by Nigeria's Ogbunike Caves, intrinsic to the all-seeing god Ogba.

Psyche and the Planets

Much like how the planets were inspired by the Greek Gods, Gustav Holst was inspired by the personalities of the planets, composing his suite "The Planets Op. 32" in relation to their astrological roots and how they affect our psyche. The tragic story of Apollo and Hyacinthus shown through digitised paper models of flowers and their meanings in floristry.

The Gift

Dedicated to her mother who was diagnosed with IPF, 'The Gift' is inspired by Studio Ghibli's unique ability to convey heavier themes not often seen in other children's media, wrapped up in an aesthetically beautiful 'whimsical yet nostalgic' package. Its core message is the idea of "giving something up for the benefit of others" as a means to raise awareness of the importance of organ donation.

"A colourful uplifting poem, filled with painterly illustrations."
A children's picture book following the fun-loving, adventurous girl: Jangles, who lives beside the coral sea and has an extraordinary love of the ocean.
